Well I’ve been a nervous wreck for the last week, worrying about everything a new mom can worry about. I have to go back to work tomorrow and every time I think about it, I almost burst out in tears. I know she’s in capable hands though, so I need to just stop worrying.

Karissa came up on Monday night and had a practice day on Tuesday. I felt kind of bossy telling her all the little things that I wanted to share, but I think she understands. I promised to limit my calls to her tomorrow to five; I think that’s reasonable. Nah, I am going to try my hardest not to call at all. Kevin will take his usual lunch break at home and I’ve begged him to call me on his way back to work. I’m sure all will be fine.

Oh, and another Wednesday means another weigh-in. Sophia now weighs 11 lbs 6 oz. Last weekend, we packed away a couple dozen outfits that she can’t fit into anymore…another crying moment for me. I think I’m more emotional now that I was when I was pregnant.

Hi all. Sorry it’s been so long since our last post. It’s been a pretty busy week and a half. As most of you know, our little angel was born Tuesday April 4th. Let me know if you didn’t receive the email with the details and I’ll forward it on.

I will spare you all the labor details and just say that it was all worth. Sophia (aka: Peanut) is the cutest little girl ever (I’m a little biased!) and she’s a great eater and sleeper. I could just watch her sleep all night. Kevin is a wonderful daddy and hates the fact that he already had to go back to work.

I can’t believe how much she’s already grown in the last week. Kevin had her on his stomach while sitting on the couch the other night and she was holding her head up and staring at him. It was so cute! Kevin swears her eyes are turning green, but my mom and I just can’s see it. My mom swears that she can already see a couple of feet away, because she keeps staring at the picture on the wall. I’m sure that’s how all parents and grandparents think, but it’s great to see progress in a new born.

Kevin went back to work Tuesday and my parents have come to help out. My house has never been so clean. Mom is cleaning all the windows right now and my dad is out edging the yard. Hhhmm, I wonder how long we can get them to stay!

Well I guess it’s back to work tomorrow. I’ve tried almost everything and with each activity, I think Peanut gets more and more comfortable right where she’s at. We had a party/dance for work on Friday, so I tried a little twist and shout and electric slide….nothing. Saturday we went to Oh baby at the hospital which was a few baby classes and walking around. We then came home and took a walk around the block, then went out for Mexican food. And today I scrubbed the bathrooms and the floors….nothing.

I guess that means back to work for Kevin and I tomorrow.

We have the biggest opportunity today to play the worst April Fool’s joke ever. Do you know how bad I wanted to yell down the stairs this morning and tell Kevin that my water broke….or to call our parents and tell them we were heading to the hospital. But we are just too nice to pull anything like that, so this is the worst we could think of.

To clarify, this is our April Fool’s joke and as far as we know she’s a girl and we’ve not had her yet.

I will spare everyone the specific details, as I’ve been told that we may share a little more than most of the guys can handle. Anyway, at my appt. today the dr. said the I was further than he would have expected (1cm, 60%). Kevin got a little squeamish at one point, but it was a good lesson for what he can expect in the next few days or week. I hope he doesn’t pass out!!

Anyway, the dr. said that if I make it to my next appt on April 4, he will then schedule induction for the following week, since they don’t want anyone to go over 42 weeks.

Because I can’t reach my toes and I’m too cheap to spend $40 on a pedicure, I somehow talked Kevin into painting my toe nails. He did such a wonderful job on the first foot…he was so proud of himself!!

Then he started on the second foot. He goofed a little on the big toe and was a little upset with himself. When he screwed up the second time on the same big toe, he was really peaved. He then decided to use the remover and start all over. He started over and finished his work of art very proud of himself.

I couldn’t help but smile and giggle watching him concentrate so hard on my little toes. What a wonderful husband!! They look wonderful!

This week it was the fun one. My doctors office waits until your 38 weeks along to check for dilation. Thank goodness, that was very unpleasant to say the least. So the only news is… no news. The doctor said that my cervix is completely closed. So it looks like Peanut will stay in her ever shrinking cozy studio apartment for a little while longer.

People think it’s strange that I’m alright with and actually planning on her coming late. In reality it would be nice if she joined us at any time, but we’re alright if she doesn’t want to enter this crazy world for a few more weeks. Right now, all we can do is wait anxiously and impatiently with a smile

Is it only the expectant mother who nests, or can the expectant father nest too??

I got home a little late after work today and heard the bass from the radio booming in the basement, so I decided to go downstairs to see why Kevin had the radio up so high. I opened the door at the top of the steps and looked down at the freshly vacuumed stairs. I ventured to the basement and into the TV room to find Kevin with the entire room torn apart and the shop vac in his hands. Before I could even question him on what he was doing, he said…”It’s so dirty down here, we should have cleaned this a long time ago!!”

I do believe he is nesting!! I think he may have even mentioned cleaning the carpets. Do you think I can get him to move on to clean the carpet and the furniture in the living room?? I’ll let you know.

From the very beginning our drier has left little rust-like stains on light colored clothes. We have never been able to figure out what causes this. So we just learned not to dry things that are lighter in color.

So last weekend we were washing Peanut’s clothes and I about started crying when I saw Peanut’s new little purple outfit with a rust stain down the front. That was it, I’d had it!! Last night we made a trip to American Furniture and Appliance and purchased a new washer and drier. You wouldn’t call that spoiling her would you??
