Gymnastics
The last couple of days has been wonderful. Kevin and I decided to really work at keeping the kids separated when they seem agitated and really working to keep them entertained. We’re exhausted, but it seems to make for a happier home!!
Derek got stung by a bee last night. He was on the swing set across the yard and he started screaming. I ran over to him and he said…”bug bite”. I looked at his hand and there was a nice sting mark swelling up his hand. He was fine after about 10 minutes. What a tuff kid!! For supper last night he tried corn on the cob for the first time. You should have seem him lick the it clean, there wasn’t a kernel left on that cob!!
Lastly, the kids started gymnastics tonight. Sophia started last year in October and didn’t really seem to miss it over the summer, but when we told her last night she would be starting gymnastics again today, she started beaming. Apparently she talked about it all day too.
Derek got to start gymnastics today too. We had told him ahead of time, not knowing that he really understood, but when Sophia got to go in before him, he was REALLY upset. We explained that he just had to wait his turn. He did awesome!!! It was tough on my end keeping him in line and waiting his turn, but I think after awhile he really caught on. He loves swinging on the bar and jumping down the long trampoline. He giggled and giggled at one point. It’s going to be a great way for him to learn a few things that he doesn’t get at home.
Afterwards we went to McDonalds for supper, then home to play Sophia’s favorite game, “pretend animals”, it was a great night. They have both been in there rooms for about a half hour, but I can hear both of them…especially Derek singing. Hopefully they’ll both crash without any intervention on our end.
