Milestones

Last Thursday Denise told us that Sophia was grunting in the corner and she asked if Sophia needed to go potty. Sophia said “no”, as she always does. A few seconds later Sophia ran into the bathroom and shut the door. When Denise peeked in, Sophia asked her to leave. A few minutes later she peeked in again and Sophia had pooped in the potty (and a little on the floor). Woo Hoo, the first poo poo in the potty.

On Saturday the same thing happened with us. She went poo poo on the potty then went over and gave Kevin a hug. After a short celebration, Sophia said “more”, then she got back on the potty and went some more. We were so proud of her. We made a huge deal and had a big celebration, but that’s the last time she’s pooped in the potty. Tonight she basically changed her own diaper and nearly put her diaper (not pull-up) on all by herself. I think that means she probably understands what’s going on. One of these days (weeks) we’ll really push potty training. It will be so nice to get one of our kids out of diapers!!

Derek finally has his first two teeth coming in. The other night we noticed a little more drool then normal and sure enough, his bottom two teeth are popping through. He’s a little more cranky than usual, but we’ve found that he loves to chew on Sophia’s sippy cups which seem to help.

Monday night after we got back from Adventureland, we were all relaxing in the living room when Derek decided it was time to show off a bit. He was rolling around and rocking back and forth when he walked his hands back into the sitting position. He did it a number of times for us throughout the night.

Last night he was rolling around in the living room and I ran into the bathroom to check on Sophia’s bath water, when I came back into the living room I noticed he had rolled into the dining room and was sitting like a big boy in the middle floor. He had a little smirk on his face, as if he was saying “catch me now Momma”!
