We had a very busy weekend the last few days. We ran a bunch of errands on Saturday, then took Sophia on a playdate with Aubrey and the neighbor girls. She even got to play in the pool with the girls and take a bath with Aubrey.
On Sunday Grandma Marilyn, Auntie Kim, Cousins Logan and Emily, Auntie Karissa and cousin Devin all came down to have some fun. We were supposed to go to the zoo, but since it rained most of the day we just sat around and relaxed for the first few hours, while watching the boys interact. In the afternoon we went to Chuck E. Cheese’s then out for supper. The girls had a great time and the boys were all very good!
Sunday night Sophia and Emily went out and enjoyed the swingset….the very wet swing set, in the very wet swampy yard. They had fun and got really dirty. Grandma Marilyn gave the girls a bath and Karissa and I gave Devin and Derek a bath. Everyone was clean!!
We ran around so much on Sunday, Sophia didn’t get a nap. That night about 8:30, she told us she was tired and that she was going to take a nap. Then she proceeded to kick us all out of her room; she napped the entire night. She must have been tired, since that is the first time she has ever recognized the fact that she needed “a nap”!!
Monday morning Denise showed up to watch the boys, while all the girls went out for breakfast, then to Adventureland. It couldn’t have been a nicer day; the weather was perfect. We weren’t sure how Sophia would do, since she’s still really little and not quite 36 inches tall, but she had a ton of fun. We went on the horses, train, a few other rides, until we came to her favorite…the tea cups. I looked down at her and she was just giggling with a huge smile on her face.
Kevin showed up around noon, just in time to hang out with Sophia while the rest of us went on the Raging River; and just in time for the first Sophia meltdown of the day. She saw us waiting in line and threw a fit. Kevin finally distracted her by feeding the geese. The rest of the day was pretty good, except the time we took her on Lady Luck and she screamed in fear the entire time. We decided the silly silo would probably be too much for her. Sophia might be a little small, but she did really have a great time. I think the bumper cars were her second favorite.
Monday night after we put her to bed we heard her telling her stuffed Kitty and Earnie all the fun things she did. Every now and again we would hear her through the door saying stuff like, “up and down” and “round and round”.
It was such a great weekend and Sophia had so much fun with Emily and Grandma. She let Grandma change her diaper, do her hair, cuddle….anything that we have to fight her to do, Grandma did with no problem. It must be Grandma Magic, because everything seemed to go very smooth when she was here. She even fell asleep in the car one of the days saying “Where’s Grandma?”, as she drifted off. She was really sad when Emily and Grandma had to leave, but we told her that she would get to see everyone again in a few days.
