Since I only blog about once a week now, I have so much to catch you up on. Sophia has learned so much this week. She has almost perfected counting to 10. She’s also grasping that numbers mean something. She can point to 6 blocks and actually count to 6. She is actually able to get a couple of colors, of course pink is one of them that she really gets. Probably because everything she owns is either purple or pink. And the big thing is that she is starting to understand reasoning. Hopefully it’ll be quite some time before she realized that we’re actually bribing her, but it’s working. If she really wants something, we can usually tell her she can have it after
Today we went to the mall and let her run wild. We just let her run (in the direction we pointed her to) and we all ended up ahead. Kevin and I both got our hair cut and we got a few things at Target. But best of all Sophia (and I) got to ride the bunny train…twice. She was a bit hesitant, but once I got in, she really had a blast. We had a great time “walkin round”, as Sophia would put it.
Derek also had a big moment Friday night. He’s been getting better and better about spending time on his tummy. Last week he even fell asleep while playing on his tummy. Friday night I put him on his tummy and propped him up on his hands and before we knew it, he had rolled from his tummy to his back. Kevin and I were stunned and by the look on Derek’s face, he was pretty surprised himself. Kevin and I had a short discussion on if we could count that as his first time rolling over since I had propped him up. While we were discussing it, I rolled Derek back onto his tummy…and sure enough he did it again, this time to the other side. We decided that after all Derek’s hard work, we had to count it!!
Oh yeah, we tried putting Derek in Sophia’s old activity center, guess who loves it?
