Sophia has grown quite fond of Kevin’s iPhone. She knows exactly where to go to find her movies she likes to watch and her videos on YouTube (much better than I can). The other night, Kevin found her a really cute YouTube video on Cookie Monster. You see Cookie had 6 cookies and somebody took 3 cookies, then someone else came and took another cookie. So then Cookie only had two cookies left. Well someone came and took the last two cookies, so Cookie was left with only his plate. Since Cookie was hungry and didn’t have any cookies left….he ate the plate.

Seems simple to us, since we know that Cookie Monster eats everything he sees. However, to an almost 2 year old, who has never watched Sesame Street this was apparently quite disturbing. Sophia holds her hands out to her sides, while questioning “Cookie…blah blah blah…ate plate?”. She knows exactly what she is saying because she repeats the same phrase over and over again. We just can’t comprehend what the middle section of her phrase is. Kevin and Sophia had a half hour conversation on Cookie and his plate.

So in this whole process I learned something too. I have to start by saying that I don’t have a ton of time to play around on the internet and don’t know a lot about YouTube. Kevin had to go do something and Sophia was watching her “Cookie Video”. After that video got over there were other “like” videos off to the side of the screen, so I played one and went on with feeding Derek. I started listening to what Kermit had to say when all of a sudden he started dropping the F-bomb and talking about condoms. I couldn’t get across the room fast enough. Afterwards, Kevin told me that people like to dub over videos and to be careful. That would have been something great to know ahead of time!!
