It’s been a great couple of days for our family. Derek had his 4 month check-up yesterday and despite getting his immunizations and his synagis shot, everything went very well. He weighs 15 lbs 3.5 oz and is 25 inches tall. He has caught up with the full term babies at the 50th percentile. Woo hoo. Even better, they didn’t have to take any blood!!
Today we took him to a Developmental Screening, which was very insightful. Since the pediatrician always compares him to full term babies, it was great to see how well he was doing for his “adjusted age”, which she said is 2 months and 1 week. For his adjusted age, he is in the 90th percentile on everything and she says he is doing and looking WONDERFUL. We need to work on tummy time a little more often, but other than that she was very pleased.
On another note, I had to work late last night and didn’t get home until close to 8:00. Kevin had lots to share when I got home. Turns out Sophia decided to have a spaghetti fight, which really made Lexi happy since she was able to clean up the entire mess. About the same time, Derek just happened to have a blow out…which meant fun clean up time for Kevin and an outfit change (for Derek). After cleaning up that mess, he walked out of Derek’s room to find that the spaghetti Lexi had cleaned up must not have settled well in her tummy. So out came the carpet cleaner to put the finishing touches on Kevin’s fun filled busy night. I don’t think I’m allowed to work late ever again.
When we were getting Sophia ready for bed last night, Derek started crying. The little mother hen that Sophia is, kicked me out as she always does…”Mommy-Derek”, then she blows me a kiss and says “bye-bye”. Only this time I asked if she could tell me that she loved me, since she has started to say it so clearly and it is adorable when she says it. After a little coaxing, she finally said “I Wuv You”, in her cute little voice. I said it back, then she said it back to me again. We fought for a couple minutes with our “I love you’s”, which almost had Kevin and me rolling on the ground and in tears, because it was the cutest thing she’s done. I fell asleep giggling to myself last night.

It’s great to see you in a pic. Derek looks wonderful and adorable as does Sophia. I bet it’s great to hear “I love you.” I can’t wait for Jaxson to say it.
