So I carried my cell phone around with me all day Thursday and Friday, waiting for the Dr. to call us with the test results. Sure enough Friday at 5:30 PM, she calls our home phone. Since I wasn’t around she talked to Kevin. I’m sure she was much happier to talk to him, since I usually ask a million and 1 questions.
Anyway, she said that his hemoglobin came back at 9.1, which is an entire point lower than it was on Wednesday. However, she says not to worry as it might just be the error in using a different lab. She also said that he does not have hemolysis, which is one of the things she was worried about. There is one test that is not yet back and she should call us mid-week to tell us those results.
So I have mixed feelings. Of course I’m so happy that he doesn’t have hemoloysis (even though I’m not exactly sure what it is), but the Dr. is so inconsistent with her testing and some of the things she is saying. She went ahead and had us do the extra tests when his hemoglobin came back at 10.1 on Tuesday, but now that it’s 9.1 and she said to just up his vitamins each day and call it good. This is so frustrating! I have a call into a hematologist, so hopefully we can get in to see him next week.
Sounds like this Dr. is aggravating you! Why does she keep switching labs? I mean, it would be no big deal if it were routine tests but you guys are trying to FIND OUT WHY HIS LEVELS ARE OFF. Shouldn’t she find one lab and friggin’ stick to it? Maybe it’s not that easy, I don’t know.
Dr.’s are so confusing sometimes.
