What a Day!!

Well today was my first day back to work and I’m surprisingly doing well without my usual afternoon nap.

Derek was up last night from 3:30 to 5ish. Then I went back to sleep until 6:30, only hitting snooze one time. I was already to go by 7, then it was time to feed Derek, get Sophia up and breakfast, pump, pack my lunch, my pump bag and a few odds and ends. I got Derek up and changed his pants, burped him and he was still fast asleep. So I decided he didn’t want fed that bad. Turns out he slept until 8ish, so he really wasn’t hungry at all.

Denise (our new nanny) showed up a little early, around 7ish, which gave us a chance to go over a ton of stuff!! I’m sure she thought I was a total basket case…which I pretty much was for most of the day.

Since Sophia has been holding her ears and saying “owie” for the last few days, I made her an ENT appointment for this morning. Kevin took her so I could get a whole day of work in. Looks like she is getting new tubes next Monday. Hey what’s another surgery to add to the family list this year.

Could someone please give me some tips on how to stay sane with two kids and both parents working. I know today was only my first day back to work, but tonight has been so hectic. I would like our nights with our kids to be enjoyable…so if anyone has any good tips on how to feed the baby, feed the rest of the family, clean the kitchen, feed the baby again, get both kids bathed, have a little playtime, clean up all the toys, read a bedtime story, get the older kid to bed, feed the baby again, pump, blog and get to bed at a decent time…please let us know!!

Yeah, looking back on it, having one kiddo was such a breeze. With the introduction of Derek, our lives have certainly gotten interesting.

2007 has been quite a year. Hopefully, we can do a post detailing the multitude of things that happened to our family this year.

If you get an answer to this let me know….I have at least another week until I really have to start thinking about it.

Don’t worry! You’ll fall into a routine faster than you think.
It’s really a lot of trial and error along with some planning and a comfortable (and flexible) routine.

For one, Derek won’t always need to be fed separately, so you’ll all be dining together before you know it. That will cut out a few steps in the evening.

Hmmm…until then…I also think there was a time when I figured out how to breastfeed and feed myself and Dianna at the same time.

Remember, multi-tasking is your friend! :)

Seriously, my advice is, lower your standards a bit until things get less crazy and more routine. Don’t try to be super-woman, ask for help whenever you can, tag team things as a couple when possible, and before you know it you’ll find yourselves juggling everything with relative ease. You’ve just gotta find your groove, you know?

Then, just when things get a bit easier, the kids will go through some CHANGE and everything will need to get re-worked! That just figures, huh?

Don’t forget, above all, take time for yourselves whenever you can. A sane mommy and daddy get way more accomplished than frazzled ones.

Remember, we’re here for ya, if you ever need a sitter!
