Monday was a hectic day, with everyone except Kevin having Dr. Appt. Kevin took Sophia to the ENT for her ear check-up. Luckily the new ear drops and antibiotics seemed to do the trick. He said everything was looking great. So with that and the fact that Sophia won’t be going to day care for too much longer, we can hopefully bi-pass replacing the tube in her left ear. We will take her back in January for a check-up.
My appointment was to the dentist, which was just a regular cleaning. So I don’t have any exciting details on that…just that I passed and they didn’t harp on me to bad for my bad flossing habits.
Derek had his two month check-up, which went pretty well. He has a hernia in his belly button, which she said should clear up within the next year and has no affects on his health. He might also have a hernia in his groin, so we will keep an eye on that. He weighed in at 10 lbs 7.5 oz. and is 22 1/4 inches long. He’s a good growing boy!!
He had four shots, including synagis, and an oral medication. He screamed his little head off and I felt so bad. I felt worse when the dr. sent us across the hall for more labs. Hasn’t my little man been poked enough?!
The Dr. called me today and said that his hemoglobin came back even lower than before. She said they did numerous tests and told us that there is nothing wrong with his bone marrow. I think she is a little perplexed at why his hemoglobin gets consistantly lower each time they test it. She told us not to worry, that she was going to do some more research and call us back at the end of the week to let us know the next steps.
In the meantime she told me to ask around to see if anyone else in the family has had problems with anemia or a red blood cell disease. I’ve made a few phone calls but no one can think of anything, so if any other family member can think of anything, just let us know. We’ll keep you updated, but for now we’re just not worrying!
