Derek is 4 weeks old already. It’s so hard to believe the things he’s already gone through in his 4 weeks of life. Hopefully everything is all better from here on out.

I took him in for a nurses visit today for a weight check and another hemoglobin check. I knew when before I took him in that he had gained quite a bit of weight, I could see it in his face and in his thighs. However, I had no idea that he would weigh in at 7 lbs 8 oz. I guess both of my kids learned how to eat a little slow, but once they caught on…they went to town!

Derek’s hemoglobin went down again, this time to 9.6. They did a few other tests which were all normal, then the Dr. consulted a neonatologist. They came to the conclusion that all babies hemoglobin levels dip around 8 weeks, Derek’s has just dipped sooner than that. They said not to worry about it and we would check it again at 2 months. That means no more needle pokes for 4 whole weeks. Yeah!!!

Sophia had a great time singing songs to her little brother tonight. She also enjoys pointing out his little hands and nose. She’s been really good with him…at home. However, they said she’s been acting up at Baby School. I think she’s turning into a biter again.
