It’s only been a few days, but I’m hoping to get into a good routine here soon. I still can’t drive, so we all get up around 6/6:30 and get rolling for the morning. Mom and I take Sophia to Baby School then head to the hospital. Derek eats at 3-6-9-12, so we try to get there for the 9 am feeding.
I’ve been trying to nurse at his 9 am feeding, but he hasn’t been doing as well as he did on Monday. He’s only a week old, so the nurse’s say that we should just be happy that he’s sucking at all. Mom and I hang out until after his 3 pm feeding and usually get out of here around 4ish.
Then we go to pick Sophia up for some fun playtime and supper. She has been really great these last couple of days, really fun and showing off how smart she is. Kids under 5 aren’t allowed on the NICU floor at all, so Sophia hasn’t been able to see her brother yet. We’ve showed her pictures and tried to explain, but we have no idea what she understands.
We have moved Sophia’s bedtime up to 8, in order for us to make it back to the hospital for Derek’s 9 pm feeding. We usually get home around 11ish…then it’s time to pump and go straight to bed.
Of course each day is a little different. Monday night Sophia decided that 4:30 was a good time to wake up for the day. Woo, yesterday was a long day!! Today Mom had to stay home for the refrigerator repair guys, so I hitched a ride with a friend. Kevin and I are taking an infant CPR class tonight, so we won’t get to see Sophia at all, since we won’t get home until 11ish. I’m sure Sophia and Grandma will have lots of fun.
