We’re very close, within an hour of making it over our first big hurdle, which was the steroid shots for the babies lungs. As of 10:30 this morning they would have had time enough take full affect. When the doctor stopped in this morning, he said the next goal is to get him until 34 weeks, which is this next Saturday. They said they will not give me any stronger meds to keep my contractions to a minimum, but the ones we are using now seem to be doing the trick. Again, it’s one day at a time.
The first day here was obviously the hardest, I was an emotional wreck. My friend Karen from work stopped by with Balloons for Sophia, twizzlers for Kevin and chocolate for me. Karissa was able to drive into town and pick up mom from the airport late Friday night. And the hardest part, was the fact that I could hardly sleep, even with sleeping meds.
Saturday Mom and karissa sat with me most of the day and we just sat around talking, it was nice to have company. After Sophia’s naptime, Kevin brought her for a quick visit. She sat down right next to me and cuddled for a good 3-4 minutes. She seemed interested in everything that was going, on but I’m sure she just has no idea. She did as well as can be expected for an 18 month old. They took turns walking down to see the babies and played with the balloons Karen had brought. I didn’t get a lot of love, so it was kind of hard on me. I did get a really good kiss before she left.
I slept much better last night (about 6 hours) and just got out of the shower. I feel like a brand new person….until they hooked me back up to all the machines.
2 days down, many more to come. Thanks for all the love and support from our friends and family. It is much appreciated!!
Holy Crap! What a weekend!
I know it’s so hard to be in the hospital and away from your family, but this too will go so fast (just like Sophia’s first 18 months), and Cashew will be here before you know it, and you will all be breathing a sigh of relief!
We are here for you guys if you need anything, please just let us know.
And, Cashew, what’s the hurry? Take your time, little buddy. Sophia and Lexi are cute, but they’ll still be here in a few more weeks!
I don’t know if this helps, but you are right at the exact week I was when I had the twins, and they also got the steroid shot, and they are doing great. Getting over that first hurdle of having the full effect of the shots is HUGE and you just helped Cashew out a lot.
If you have time (and want a visitor) email me your hospital and room number and I’ll come down to keep you company.
We love you guys!
Steph (and the family)
