Weekend Away

I dropped Sophia off at Baby School on Friday morning, then headed to SC where I worked all day. I made it to Vermillion around 4 pm and met Karissa at her place. She gave me a quick tour of her place, then we ran to the Foundation office. I worked at the Foundation all through college and Karissa has worked there for the last couple of years. They’ve remodeled the entire office, which looks really great and it was great to see a few of my old co-workers.

I then went to the hotel where Renee and Tara were waiting for me. The reason for the visit was for Lisa’s wedding. Lisa, Tara, Renee and I all met our freshman year of college, as we lived on 2nd Olson in the dorms. We had a really great time all through our 4-5 years of college…some stayed longer than others. I graduated in December 1999. Since then, I’ve seen them a handful of times. Tara lives in New Jersey and Renee used to live in Denver, so I was able to get out to visit each of them once, while working for Cahaba. They all were able to come to our wedding and a couple of years back we all met for a weekend in Las Vegas. So it was really great to be able to get together again.

Friday night we went to Lisa’s rehearsal dinner. Then on Saturday Renee wanted to go check out our old apartments. She knocked on the doors and asked if we could come and check out the places. Surprisingly, we were invited in. After looking at our old apartments and driving around town, I was amazed at how bad everything looked. It didn’t seem like anything had been updated through the whole town. It kind of looked dumpy and very dated. I certainly would not let my children live in the apartments I lived in!!

We checked out a few of our regular hang-outs and restaurants. Saturday night we went to Lisa’s wedding and reception. Karissa came with us most of the weekend, so it was nice to get to hang out with her too.

Sunday morning I packed up and left for home about 10:30. The entire ride home I kept thinking about how much I missed Sophia and Kevin. It was a very long 3 1/2 hours home!! Sophia was just getting up from her nap and I was so excited to see her reaction when I walked into her room. To my surprise she gave me no reaction what-so-ever…nothing!

I think Kevin was pretty happy and relieved that I was home! He did a great job keeping the house picked up and even did all the laundry and vacuumed the entire house. I had a great time, but am very happy to home with my family!
