Wow, where to begin.
This past weekend, Lynnette went to the town of her old Alma Mater: Vermillion, South Dakota, for the wedding of her friend Lisa. We’ve known about this wedding for many months, even before we knew about baby boy Hillabolt, so it certainly wasn’t an unexpected trip.
Anyway, the plan all along was for Lynnette to travel to South Dakota, leaving Sophia and I for a fun filled weekend alone together. She would take Karissa along as a date, and they would cut loose on the town - I guess that sort of changed, once they both knew of the pregnancies, but I digress.
Well enough back story, here is a recap of what was a crazy weekend for Sophia and I.
Friday:
- Picked up from day care after work
- Frozen pizza for dinner
- Lots of playtime. Sophia would sometimes ask where mommy is, but seemed none the wiser
- Bed time at 8:30. This is a breeze
- About 9:30 is when it all broke loose. Sophia woke up screaming for mommy
- Late call to Lynnette, with Sophia screaming “mommy” in the background
- I believe I finally got her to bed around 11:30. Oh my, daddy is tired.
Saturday:
- Orange danish rolls for breakfast
- Issue with broken bubble container on the deck. She was not a happy camper.
- Mac & cheese for lunch
- Naptime
- First time at the Circus. What an amazing time had by Sophia, Grandma Robin and I. Sophia was quite fond of the Elephants and the horses. Too bad she seemed to have “ants in her pants”.
- Happy meal for dinner
- Learning how to ride the daddy horse
- Grumpy and tired at 7:30, time for bedtime. This was the last I heard from her until 8:30 Sunday morning. I think the circus really did the trick.
- Woke up to Lexi “being sick” at 2:00 AM. She spent the night in the bathroom. It wasn’t pretty.
Sophia sees an Elephant for the first time. Can you believe the expression on her face? Priceless.
Sunday:
- Cinnamon rolls for breakfast (notice the pattern, easy for daddies to make.)
- Lots of laundry. Sophia was quite helpful pulling things out of the dryer. Of course, they usually went on the floor.
- Sophia and I vacuumed the house. I used the Dyson, she used her Fisher Price. It worked.
- More learning to ride the daddy horse - she can do it solo now
- Hog dogs for lunch
- Naptime
- Mommy is back all is well!
It was a crazy weekend, but Sophia and I survived. We really missed mommy and was glad she made it home.
