Afternoon Routine

I thought I would go in order, since most of the time the routine is the same throughout the day.

Kevin and I carpool, so after he gets off work he comes and picks me up, then we pick Sophia up together. When we pick her up she is usually so happy to see us. Her new thing is washing her hands…before we leave, she goes to the sink and washes her hands (with at least 2 squirts of soap). When we finally get her in the car, she points to where we keep the goldfish treats, which tend to keep her occupied the entire trip home. We read through daily sheet to see what she did that day, then we usually sing a song or keep our eyes open for puppies.

When we get home, Sophia and Kevin walk out to the mailbox to get the mail, then I help her up the front stairs. She always reaches her hand up, because she knows she has to hold Mommy’s hand going up the stairs. Lexi is always ready to great us at the front door.

Once in the house, Sophia takes one of us into the kitchen and points to her sippy, then to the refrigerator (for some water) and the snack cupboard for her snack of the day. All the while saying “uh, uh”. I guess that’s better than not telling us what she wants. We’re just trying to get her to say the actual words. “uh, uh” is getting really old…but still cute.

Then she heads into the living room and sits in her big girl chair and enjoys her snack while watching Little Einsteins. Every time the show comes on she yells “Ra Ra”, as in Ra Ra Ra for rocket (part of the intro song to the cartoon). She usually only watches about 15 min of her show, which allows Kevin and I to get our comfy clothes on and supper started.

After that we seem to change our routine up until around bed time. I just have to mention that her new cute phrase it “what’s that”. She points to almost everything and with the same cute little tone she says “what’s that”. It is so funny!
