I thought I might catch you up to date with one side of my family. My Grandma and Grandpa Goodburn have 4 kids…three girls and one boy. Their only boy, Doug, has two boys. The youngest, Julie, has three girls. Pam is living it up with no kids in Houston and my parent’s have 4 kids, Kim (33), me (30), Lee (27) and Karissa (23).
Got that…in 2 generations, not including spouses, there are girls (9) and boys (4). So far they have two grandkids Emily and Sophia. Now the score is- girls (11) and boys (4).
So when Kim, Karissa and I all announced our pregnancies a few months ago, the family was elated. One of us was bound to have a boy. Kim had her ultrasound first and found out she is having a boy. Mine was next, and of course you all know Cashew is a boy. But imagine our surprise when Karissa found out today that she too is having a boy. WOW!! What are the odds of that. All three girls having all boys…within 5 to 6 weeks of each other. End score for this year will be girls (11), boys (7)…they’re gaining on us girls!
Now it’s the race to see who can have the first boy in this family in 25 years. We’ll count Karissa out of the race, since her boy isn’t due until the beginning of January….but it’s on Kim! Not to early though, we both want to have our little Thanksgiving turkey’s fully cooked.
