Sophia was invited to a birthday party today at Pump It Up, which is one of those party places with all the blow up jumping toys. I wasn’t really sure what to expect. We decided to go last minute, since I got out of a meeting early.

When we first got there we walked into a room with 3 very large jumping play areas and 26 screaming children. Not surprising, Sophia was so scared. She clung very close to me and buried her head into my shoulder. After a few minutes I sat down on the floor and put our socks on, then we climbed onto one of the bouncy toys with about 5 little kids. Sophia continued to scream until she picked her head up and saw the little kids having fun. Within minutes she loosened her grip and started laughing. She wasn’t interested at all in getting down and jumping herself, but liked it when I jumped. The fun lasted about 5 minutes, then she had had enough.

We went into another room and had ice cream and cake. I’m not sure she was quite ready for a birthday party like that. However, afterward we visited Daddy at his work, which Sophia thought was great…so did Kevin!
