I just updated several things with the site, including installing the new Binary Bonsai K2 template, as well as setting the page width to be fixed, instead of flexible. Turns out, IE users weren’t seeing the sidebar on the right side, instead it was showing at the bottom. I’ve also done a bit of re-arranging of the advertisements on the site, in hopes they might be a bit more effective.
Another item:
Due to some electrical work tomorrow, the power may be off in our household for brief periods tomorrow. As this site is hosted on my G4, you might get a page not found. Rest assured, I will have things running as soon as possible.
If you find anything that doesn’t appear to be working, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
I also disabled the AJAX commenting, since it always seemed to show a different comment when users posted.
Electrical work has been completed, everything sound be running a-okay now.
I believe there was only a brief period of time things were actually down. Thank goodness…
You’ll have to keep us posted on how the K2 works. I’m going to attempt to build my own WordPress theme in the next few weeks.
How about a tutorial on how to host your own site on your mac? I want to do this but I dont know how to get my server hooked up to the world.
For hosting at home, you might be interested in this: http://www.nonstopmac.com/2005/12/giveyourmacosxcomputera.htm
My situation is a little bit different, since I have much more hardware at play. I also have my own DNS server, so I don’t need anything dynamic.
I would be happy to help you get something set up.
Dang, Wordpress doesn’t seem to like that link. After the /12/, put give[]your[]mac[]os[]x[]computer[]a.htm (remove the brackets, the underscores seem to be stripped when the comment is posted).
