Ultrasound

Wow, I don?t even know where to start. I was so excited and nervous all morning. I called Robin around 12:30 and asked her if she could come pick me up. With how frazzled I was I thought I might forget how to make it the 4 blocks to the hospital.

Ultrasounds are the best creations ever!!! The first thing we saw was all of Peanut?s bones in her body. Then the tech focused on all the organs and did some measurements. Once she focused on the heart, I was in awe. I couldn?t believe how well we could see each of the parts of the heart. At one point we had a close-up of her head, as she swallowed the amniotic fluid.

About 10 minutes into the ultrasound the tech said, wow, that was a big kick. At that moment I realized that all those little feelings I thought may have been kicks, were. Peanut kept kicking, harder and harder. She really didn?t like the ultrasound wand. It felt so strange. The tech was trying to get a good read on the heartbeat and Peanut was still kicking. I started laughing uncontrollably? Slowly my laughs turned into happy tears, with big droplets dripping down my face. Due to my little episode, it took a little while to get a good read on the heartbeat, which was 143 beats per minute.

Next came time for Peanut to reveal her gender. About 5 minutes into this search, it was very apparent that Peanut did not want to let us know anything more than she already had. Peanut was lying there with both legs crossed at the ankles. She would not change positions. The tech asked me to turn onto my left side, then onto my right, then on my back again. Nothing. She had me try again. This time, each time I rolled over, the she poked me in the belly. We could see on the screen that Peanut was not happy at all with the extra poking around. As I rolled back onto my back, I was sort of sad that we wouldn?t find out the gender. At that moment, she straightened her legs so straight, it was amazing. Then we finally got a picture that we?d been waiting for. 99% sure Peanut is a girl and she weights approximately 8 oz.

There is no way I could have ever kept that huge secret. Not a half hour later I had already talked to my mom, sisters, grandma, and anyone within earshot at work. I?ll have Kevin post a few ultrasound pictures sometime tonight!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Wow! I’m sooo happy for you guys. You are going to LOVE raising a little girl (they ARE the better gender anyway).

    Need some baby clothes?
Cause I think I just might have double of everything!

    Congratulations again, guys!

Better gender huh? We’ll see about that. :)

Either way we would have been happy, but the cool part about a girl is, we have many friends that currently have baby girls (or recently had girls that are in the toddler stage). It’s like hand-me-down euphoria…

Plus the baby room is already purple (although, we may paint a different shade of purple).
