After spending most of the evening shopping for bathroom remodeling stuff, we stopped at a local sports bar to grab a bite to eat. Let’s just say, the meal didn’t really go all that well. You know things are going bad when you say to the waitress “I think there is something wrong with my beer, it doesn’t taste very good.” Her response was “Okay, I’ll have him check the keg.” Ultimately, she never returned.
Any normal person would have heard me basically say “this beer is terrible, please bring me another.” Obviously, the message didn’t set in; I left the glass sitting at the edge of the table, without taking any further sips and constantly looked around the place, especially towards our waitress. The message never seemed to sink in.
When she finally brought our food, which seemed to have taken a very long time, but I may have been a little bitter over the crappy beer to accurately describe how much time it actually took, I say to her “could you please bring me another beer? When I said it tasted terrible, that sort of implied I wasn’t going to choke it down.” She chuckles and blurts out “I’m sorry, I forgot to ask the bartender, I’ll get right on that.”
In the end, we both put on our coats to signal we “really wanted the check please”, since she didn’t seem to be paying any attention to her customers. Argh, what a terrible experience; note the tip reflected our dissatisfaction…
